The Long Awaited Album OUTBACKISTAN

Evolution in raw music

The ROADTRIPPERS are a collection of white and Bama musicians (depending on whose around) from the wilds of Queensland’s Cape York Peninsula that get together to play the songs of vocalist/guitarist Gav Dear.

They’ve released two quite good albums to date that received radio airplay throughout Australia and have even done live performance broadcasts for Radio National’s Music Deli and various other’s for ABC  and Community Radio throughout the north.

Hard to categorise musically, they spread their wings to include acoustic country, strange ballads, guitar pop and raucous garage rocknroll, all songs answering the mad call of the Far North of Australia.

They also occasionally morph into the TOADRIPPERS SHOW, a Ramones and TISM inspired calamity with strange outfits and dancing go go girls.

They don’t get out much but if you’re lucky you might catch them playing on the 120 year old verandah of the iconic Lions Den Hotel or some bush rodeo or music festival but always at their favourite annual big stage gig at Wallaby Creek Festival.

Think Warumpi Band, Jason and the Scorchers and even John Williamson or as the ABC’s Richard Fidler described them ”The Doors meet Jack Kerouac and Slim Dusty...wild stuff”

Does it make any sense? Who knows but they are defiantly a unique and terrifically entertaining voice in the northern music scene...
